IMMOKALEE means "my home" in the Seminole laguage.
Most Immokalee residents earn their living in the fields of SW Florida from dawn to dusk
Much of our produce during winter months is grown in and around Immokalee, Florida.
And.. there are children everywhere.
Because of low wages, most working people in Immokalee receive assistance through agencies and local churches such as Our Lady of Guadelupe Catholic Parish and the Amigos Center.
Many Immokalee working families live in severely sub-standard housing.
BUT... the people of Immokalee are precious!

The primary mode of family transportation - strollers!

You can make a difference in Immokalee by an investment of your time, talents and treasure.
Immokalee Pregnancy Center is here to provide hope.. and hope for a future to the women who enter our Center.
We welcome you!
Immokalee Pregnancy Ctr. is located in Immokalee, FL about 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It has been called America's bread basket as most winter vegetables and citrus are grown in and around Immokalee.
Our clients are primarily Hispanic and Haitian. Almost 75% of Immokalee speaks Spanish as a first language. Haitian residents make up about 20% of the population. It is a community rich in ethnic culture but also quite poor especially compared to the rest of SW Florida. The median income here is just over $9,000 per year. And while most folks struggle to make a living, they are kind, friendly, and appreciative of the generosity of their neighbors.
Please take a look at this pictorial of our community. We invite you to visit us and see for yourselves - what God, and people of good will are doing here.
Please contact us anytime! We look forward to hearing from you.
